Maureen Edwards inspiration comes from her extensive experience in education as a teacher, a special education director and supervisor, a learning disability teacher consultant, and an adjunct professor. She cherished every moment as an educator and considers it a marvelous, fulfilling vocation! Her work gave her a keen insight into the delicate relationship between teachers, support staff, administrators, and the communities they serve.
Maureen received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from The Catholic University of America, a master's degree in developmental and educational psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a master's degree in special education from New Jersey City University. She earned her doctorate of education from Fordham University and graduated magna cum laude.
Maureen has been writing all her life and is a member of ALLi-Alliance of Independent Authors. Since taking Irish Literature courses at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, along with creative writing courses at The New School in New York City, she always dreamed about the day she would write her first novel.
2020 will be a busy time for her published pieces of fiction. Maureen's debut novel, It Is What It Is, was just released on Amazon in Kindle and paperback. Two short stories, "A Monster Under the Bed" and "Visiting Wonderland," have been chosen to be included in a Young Adult anthology also out Winter 2020.
Maureen was born in New York City and grew up in Weehawken, New Jersey. She still lives in Hudson County, where she enjoys listening to music, going to the beach, and rooting for the Rangers, Giants, and Yankees.
